Summer Camp

We need to know which camp your unit is planning on attending this summer. Planning out a summer camp takes time and requires an approximate head count to insure we accommodate all scouters.

Camporee Planning Meeting

Don't forget Camporee is coming 4/18-4/20. Help make this event a success. Please come to the next planning meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 7:00pm, Room 2B in Bartula Family Life Center, FUMCR. Youth leadership from all units are encouraged to attend and participate in planning an amazing Camporee.

Camp Card Sales

Please sign up today for camp cards through CampMaster. This is a Risk Free Unit Sales project where all Scouts can earn their way to Camp, Philmont, other activities or simply support unit program or supply needs. Each Camp Card will sell for only $5.00 to the general public and will have multiple food, service and entertainment discounts for the customer to use throughout the year. Continue reading.

Rendezvous 2016: April 8-10, SAVE THE DATE

MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW: The 2016 Rendezvous will be back at Camp Wisdom, scheduled for April 8th - 10th!

CampMaster registration and more details about Rendezvous will be announced in February, but you can expect an event similar to last year's fun: an action-packed day full of various activities exciting to Venturers and Sea Scouts!

Please take a moment schedule a time for a presenter to come to your Court of Honor or Blue and Gold Banquet and make a short presentation about Friends of Scouting. Camporee Planning Meetings

Camporee will be held March 18-20 at Camp Constantin. This is a annual event which gets better every year. If your unit has not participated lately, now is the time to put it on your calendar and help make it a success. Camporee is work of volunteers and this work must be done not only at Camporee, but during planning meetings in advance of the event. Scout and adult volunteers are needed.

Step up to the plate and come to the next planning meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 7:00pm, Room 2B in Bartula Family Life Center, First United Methodist Church of Richardson. Volunteering at Camporee is a rewarding experience and the time invested is well spent.

Leading Scouts with Autism 2/16/2016

Understand their DIFFERENCES to truly make a DIFFERENCE in the life of these “difficult” Scouts.

Traveling Exploring Certification 2/26/2016

Professionals and volunteers are invited to attend the Exploring Certification course and the Exploring Explosion orientation as part of the 2016 Exploring Explosion growth campaign.

Boy Scout Leader Specific, Starts Mar 23

This course for adult leaders in Boy Scout units. Leaders who work directly with boys in a unit should attend. This course will teach you about organization, operation, outdoor program and role of the adult leader in a troop. The class meets 2 times. Continue reading

Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills, 4/8-4/10

Learn by doing. Participate in an actual Boy Scout weekend campout. You will learn first hand how a Boy Scout Troop operates in the field. Great fun and informative. This course is taught in conjunction with the 2 classroom sessions offered a few weeks earlier. It's is strongly recommended that you participate in both. Advance preparation and signup required. Wilderness First Aid

Wilderness First Aid is required for all BSA High Adventure bases - Philmont, Northern Tier, Sea Base, and Summit - and recommended for all scouting activities beyond one hour of medical help.
Class dates: Apr 1-3, Apr 29- May 1, and May 20-22
Classes: Friday, 6:30 - 10:30 pm; Saturday, 8 - 4:30 pm; Sunday, 12:30 - 4:30 pm
Cost: $75
CPR/AED is required and will be offered the Wednesday before each class

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

National Youth Leadership Training is an intense, 5 ½ day, outdoor leadership training experience for youth troop, team and crew leaders. The course goal is to prepare young men and women to become superior leaders in their troop, crew, district, council, and other organizations they belong to now, and in the future. Continue reading
