Friends of Scouting

We need volunteers who can be scheduled to make a Friends of Scouting (FOS) presentation or accept a request to present on short notice. Contact our district FOS chair Ken Weitzel at ken@weitzel.com to schedule your presentation or volunteer to make a presentation. Our District Executive Chad Caudle is also available to assist. The FOS Dinner on Feb. 23rd at the Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Dallas. Reception at 6pm followed by dinner at 7pm. Dr. Robert Ballard is our featured speaker at this event. Registration for this dinner is closed, but if you are planning to attend, make sure you are confirmed with your Table Ambassador who contacted you or contact Russell May at 214-750-2048 or e-mail at Russell_May@ML.com or reach out to Chad Caudle at his contact information noted above.

Scouting for Food

A great big thank you to all that served our community collecting much needed food for the Network Ministries Food Pantry.
At last count, the pantry had received 15,000 lbs of food to help feed our neighbors in need. Our Northern Trail District collected 10,468 items and logged 1,229 Service hours. While 15,000 lbs sounds like a large amount of food, Kent at Network Ministries tells me it goes very quickly.
Therefore, if you were unable to help this year, please put SFF on your calendars for next February, and lets do even better!
And please help spread the word to units that you know of that did not participate this year. Thanks again to each of you for all you do to make our community a better place every day.

Camporee, Weekend March 24-26, 2017 Camp James Ray

Hello Scouters, this year’s Camporee will be packed with many fun activities and team building challenges. In addition to Six Troop Competitive stations, we will be hosting several minor events that come with their own prizes. These events include: Scout Master/Delegate Dutch Oven Chili cook off: This one has always been around, we look forward to seeing each Scoutmaster’s own take on how a proper chili should be made. Scout Masters will need to deliver to the dining hall between 3:30 to 3:45, tasting will begin at 3:45. Continue reading.

Venturing Rendezvous

Venturing Rendezvous is a weekend of fun activities for co-ed youth ages 14 to 21 - including, Venturers, Sea Scouts, Explorers, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts.
Dates: Friday, March 31, 2017 – Sunday, April 2, 2017. Come for the day Saturday or camp for the weekend. Location: Camp Wisdom ‐ 6400 W. Redbird Lane, Dallas, TX Theme: Pirate Holiday (Aarrgh!) including a round‐robin camporee style event. Price: $30 Early Bird / $40 Day of Event. Lunch and Dinner Saturday are included. Boy Scout Leader Specific Training, Wednesday March 22th, 2017

This course for adult leaders in Boy Scout units. Leaders who work directly with boys in a unit should attend. This course will teach you about organization, operation, outdoor program and role of the adult leader in a troop. The class meets 2 times. Registration now available More information

Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills, Weekend April 8-9th, 2017

Learn by doing. Participate in an actual Boy Scout weekend campout. You will learn firsthand how a Boy Scout Troop operates in the field. Great fun and informative. This course is taught in conjunction with the 2 classroom sessions offered a few weeks earlier. It's is strongly recommended that you participate in both. Advance preparation and signup required. Wilderness First Aid Classes for 2017

This is the 16 hour ECSI course designed by Philmont and meets the requirements for the BSA High Adventure Bases.

Circle Ten Council Annual Recognition Banquet, April 6, 2017

Do you have a Scout who earned his Eagle rank in 2016? Did you know that we would like to honor him at the Annual Recognition Banquet, along with the whole 2016 Tom Baker Class of Eagle Scouts?

The Circle Ten Council Annual Recognition Banquet is held annually to recognize Eagle Scouts and the volunteers of Circle Ten Council. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Tom Baker Class of 2016 Eagle Scouts and the 2016 Silver Beaver Awards. In addition, other high level awards will be presented or recognized during the Recognition Banquet. Please come and support these dedicated Scouts and Scouters as they are recognized on this special night.
