A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobeying them. Scouting reinforces this basic value.

Twilight Camp Discount Deadline is May 1st

Don't wait until the last minute to register for Twilight Camp. Save some money, avoid the rush and help our hardworking volunteers! Twilight camp begins on Monday June 8th. Tigers come on Wednesday June 10th. Twilight Camp is great fun for all participants parents and scouts alike. Walking den leaders needed. All walking den leaders must have a current within two years Face to Face Youth Projection card. Sign up today! Consider staffing! Adult and junior staff needed in almost every areas. Camp Card Program Wraps Up May 8th

The camp card sale ends May 8th. To get the full commission, unsold cards and money need to be turned in no later than May 15th. (Units keep commissions and only turn in unsold cards & money due council.) Youth Protection Training is Required

Face to Face Youth protection is available at the Fairview office on April 29th. More Face to Face YPT in May at First United Methodist Church. All leaders are required to have Youth Protection Training. Immediately following the Face to Face training you will have the opportunity to receive walking den leader training. The on-line version of youth protection training is available at myscouting.org, but the Face to Face version is required for Adult leaders at Twilight and Overnight Camps.

Trainer Edge, June 6, 2015

Trainer’s EDGE is the required train-the-trainer course for Wood Badge and NYLT staffs. The purpose of the Trainer’s EDGE course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. Only practice can polish these skills, but this course focuses on training behaviors and resources while offering hands‐on experience in methods and media. Continue reading

There are a number of upcoming activities and it's time to get signed up. These include: Twilight Camp for Cub Scouts and Webelos Resident Camp for Webelos Scouts. All of these activities require advanced sign up. Don't make the job of the organizers more difficult than it needs to be. Sign up promptly.

Mountaineer Weekends at the Summit

Mountaineer Weekends are the perfect way to get a feel for The Summit in a short period of time, whether passing through or just making a weekend of it.

Get a taste of the adventure and action sports opportunities available at the BSA’s newest national base — The Summit Bechtel Reserve — located in Southern West Virginia. The Mountaineer Weekend program gives you access to all venues in the Scott Summit Center. This area is a microcosm of the Summit with sample versions of each of the exciting activities found elsewhere on the property. Continue reading.
