Need More Help?

A very common complaint among new leaders is the they can't get enough parents to help with the program. Parents can be very resistant to helping, but there are ways get them more involved. If you don't ask for help on a one-on-one basis your success will be very limited. Button hole the parents and ask and keep asking until you get results. Tasks can be simple, bring a treat for a meeting, teach a little class about an occupation, help with transportation or lead a game at a meeting. Don't overwhelm your potential volunteer, start small!

There is a another secret weapon! TRAINING. Talk to the parents of your scouts and tell them that you want them to come to the "Day of Training" and learn about the program. No obligation! Explain that they will learn about how the program works and how to insure that their child gets the most out of scouting.

Shout it out Video!

While your unit is out having fun this summer, be sure and capture the moment in a short 10-second video. Take videos of activities at summer camp, high adventure or unit activities. Upload the videos to the web and share your experiences with all of the scouts in Circle Ten Council during the evening show at Xperience in November! See your video on the Big Hoss TV at the CTXERIENCE and enter to win a FREE GoPro! Continue reading.
