Cub-A-Palooza October 7-8, 2017 Camp Wisdom

Join us for a fun adventure at Cub-A-Palooza with activities for the entire family! The force is strong, so come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character and compete for the best costume!

Accomplish rank achievements while you have fun with your pack and family. We’ll have activities all day and a carnival in the evening. If you are a Bear Den leader, plan and run a carnival game to accomplish an adventure.

Boy Scout Roundtable Tuesday, October 10th 7:00PM

High Adventure trip for under $500.00! And, that doesn't mean $499.00. In fact, the price quoted to me was $425.00 Unheard of, you say! Well, here it is folks. Roundtrip, full weeklong adventure to the Grand Canyon during Spring Break for an affordable price.

Boy Scout Leader Specific / Outdoor Leader Training -- October 4,11

Registration is now available. Boy Scout Leader Specific is a two evening course which will expand on and clarify your understanding of the scout program. The course addresses how and why it works and will help you to insure the success of scouts in your unit. This course is for all adults including parents, committee members and front line leaders. This class meets on two Wednesday evenings, October 4th and October 11th.

The companion course, "Outdoor Leader Specific Training" is a hands on experience where you participate as your scout would in the actual planning and execution of a scout campout. You will learn by doing at the direction of an experienced leadership team. Expect to learn a lot and have a very enjoyable weekend experience. Advance registration and preparation is required. The event will be held Saturday-Sunday October 21-22 at Camp Wisdom. More information and registration.

Backcountry Advanced Training

Philmont bound? BAT is a two evening course and campout which will equip both adults and scouts with the knowledge and skill needed for a successful backcountry experience. Information and registration for Backcountry Advanced Training now available. Classes are October 12th and 19th. Campout is the weekend of October 27-29, 2017. More information and registration.

Day of Training CANCELED

Northern Trail Day of Training scheduled for October 14th is canceled. Northern Trail will be exploring new methods to customize and deliver training to our unit leaders.
Multiple venues for Training include: – Log in and make a personal plan for online courses that address your current or upcoming position. They are presented as short modules that can be accomplished at your leisure.
University of Scouting—January 6th, 2018 -- A multitude of Leader Specific courses are available for Cub Leaders, Boy Scouts and Venturing Advisers.
Northern Trail District hosted Scoutmaster/ Assistant Leaders Specific Training, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Training, Back Country Adv. Training and Wilderness First Aid offered Spring and Fall. Northern Trail Camporee—Spring 2018. Face to Face training taught annually. In addition CPR/First Aid or other supplemental courses may be available.
Northern Trail District Committee-- Contact Program Chair and discuss hosting a unit session if your unit has a group of 5 or more that need training in a specific area. We value your time and energy . We invite your feedback of how we can best serve you the leaders. Trained leaders are key to successful units.

District committee Training Workshop, East Central Service Area - Saturday, November 4, 2017

All current and incoming District Committee Members are required to attend this training workshop. Regardless of your "trained" status, please plan to attend one of the 6 Service Area trainings being held over the next 6 months. Registration in CampMaster now open. More information

Oak Leaf Training

This training is for scouts First Class and above who are in or will be in leadership positions in their troop. Due to a schedule conflict, the dates have changed and will held the weekend of November 11 and 12th. Registration now available on CampMaster. More information

Adult Recognition

This is the time of the year we think about who in Northern Trail should be recognized for their scouting efforts; this can be at the unit and/or district and council level.

At the unit level we have the Y.E.S.-Your Extraordinary Service Award, each unit can nominate 2 adults and 1 more for every additional 50 youth in the unit. Adults activity at district level- OA and District Committee can be nominated as well. The unit determines who receives the award.

The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by the district at their annual dinner. This person could have chaired one event or/and been involved in many scouting activities. A district committee selects the awardees from the nominations.

The Robert E. Little Award is a district award for long service to scouting. The district selects one person each year.

The Silver Beaver is a the highest council award for scouters. The district gathers the nominations and forwards them to council. These scouters have made significant contributions to the scouting movement over a number of years. Additional information and forms are found at Additional supporting information can be added.
