Thanksgiving
This week we celebrate Thanksgiving in the United States. All of us, in spite of our challenges, have much to be thankful for. Scouting is a gift, given by an untold number of volunteers, professionals, and benefactors over the years. From the skills we learn to the values we develop, Scouting equips us to be better individuals and contribute to our communities. This Thanksgiving, take a moment to reflect on the ways Scouting has shaped your life and the lives of those around you. And let's express our gratitude to all those who have made our Scouting journeys possible.

Training
Range Activities Safety Training
The Range Activities SAFEty training is now available online. Every unit who participates in Range Activities must have trained leaders at the range with their units. So this is not just directed at the Unit Leader but at whomever is accompanying their unit for a range day. If you are a direct contact leader, take the course. It requires about 30 minutes of your time. Once you login to my.scouting.org you can then follow this link directly to the course at https://training.scouting.org/courses/SCO_822
A huge amount of training material is available online, including position training and Youth Protection. Access your account here. If you don't have an account, it is easy to set one up. You can access your training records and set up a complete training program.
Being a volunteer can sometimes seem like a thankless job with little recognition. To address this, the district has several adult awards designed to recognize hard working volunteer adult leaders. These awards are directed at the unit, district and council level. The district will hold an awards banquet on February 19 to formally recognize these individuals. Please take a moment to submit nominations. More information and nomination forms may be found here.
If you have questions, please contact the Awards and Recognition Chair Muhammad Ikram at [email protected]
